What Is Cashmere?

Cashmere is one of the finest natural fibres in the world and is combed from the fine undercoat of Chinese and Mongolian goats. Cashmere knitwear and accessories made from this fibre are light and very soft, yet warm to wear. With little extra care and after a number of washes, you will find like fine wine, your cashmere will improve with age.

The best Scottish knitwear, cashmere knitwear and accessories come from Scotland. With over 200 years of dyeing experience, spinning and knitting in Scotland, you will find each cashmere garment will be of the highest quality. All our cashmere knitwear and accessories are made in Scotland to the highest specification. Pashminas, which are 80% cashmere and 20% silk, are made all by hand in Nepal.

Washing Instructions

We recommend that your cashmere knitwear be gently washed after it has been worn four to five times. Cashmere and scottish knitwear can be hand washed or dry-cleaned. We recommend hand washing, following these few simple guidelines:

Cashmere knitwear should be hand washed in lukewarm water (35*C) using good quality cashmere shampoo.Carefully, squeeze the suds through the garment, taking care not to rub the garment too hard as this may cause it to shrink. Finally, rinse the garment in clean water, squeezing gently without twisting.Smooth the garment back into its natural shape and dry naturally away from direct sunlight. Dry the garment flat on a clean towel. Never hang the garment to dry, as it will lose its shape and size. When dry, press lightly with a cool iron. Under no circumstances should the garment be tumble-dried.All cashmere and wool accessories should be dry-cleaned as they are not knitted, but woven.Following these instructions, your garment will preserve its shape and luxurious handle for many years.
